replacement indicator arm for early type 3 ideas?

Greetings!
My indicators won't cancel and the assembly is shagged.
I need to find a replacement whether vw or something from another car. Mine is the early type steering column.

What are people using?

Cheers, T :tu:

But which "early" type. The one with the steering lock/ignition switch across the top of the column or the simple one with ignition switch dangling below column ? The top ones are as rare as rocking horse .. well you know .... but the lower one can be addapted from a similar model Bug. You will have to fiddle a bit to put the headlight dipper switch into the arm.

Thanks Dallas
Mine is the same ignition switch as the lower pic.
Can the beetle arms you mention be purchased new still and are they any good?
I have the dipper switch integral to the stalk. How much "fiddling" are we talking about?

A Bug assembly will be ok but he may have to put up with an ivory one. Can't remember if Bugs had the black things..... toooooo long ago! Only a coat of paint though.

converted mine to dipper switch think it was only drilling and tapping a very small hole for switch to pivot on .

Thanks Klaus that's pretty much what 1500S mentioned to me as well.

I have been told that mine is most likely serviceable so I'm going to have a go at it...starting with disassembly and a good clean!

Still, I do like the idea of a non VW one say like a BMW or similar (german if possible!)

Spent hours at the wreckers and couldn't find anything suitable.

ghia & type 3 are the same. early ghia used the switch to flash the headlights and type 3 used it for hi/lo beam. i used a beetle one , just swapped the switch over. there are repro ones about.
