fitting early 60s beelte guards to 68

picked up some early 60 front guards with the oval headlights
will these bolt onto a 68
i know the bumper mounts would have to be cut in but i love the head lights and the oval vent

also can get early 60s engine lid and rear guards - will these easily go onto a 68 - ie without any cutting and welding ??

sorry stupid qs
will try tomorrow and report back:crazy:

yes the front and rear guards will fit...........the engine lid will also fit, although it is 'longer' at the bottom so you will need to change the rear beaver panel for it to fit properly (so cutting and welding!).

all bugs except superbugs have the same gaurd mounts front and back
my 70 bug had 6volt gaurds front and back when i got it

as craig said the decklid will fit and the proper way is fit a new valance but when putting an early decklid on a late car a cheap no weld/cutting fix is leave the stock valance and just mount a tab to it for the decklid catch

been done before, and looks fine from outside

fitted the front guards this morning
love the headlights and oval vent holes

will probably look at fitting deck lid and rear guards later

trouble is the dropped spindles mean the 65/r15 tyres rubbbing with original and ealry guards

i guess i need some offset wheels to tuck the tyres in further - any ideas or anyone got some to sell??
