Fiat 500 Abarth
I know this is nothing to do with VW's, but does anyone the value of these things? I've found 2 in a backyard and I really want to buy them, but I
don't know what they're worth if the guy gives me a price! I've seen them from a distance, so I don't know what they are really like. One has a
great body, but the other has had a ding on the side, so it would be used for parts. I've searched the net and found nothing. Anyone got any
ideas????

Arbarths are pretty collectable - not sure of a dollah value but they are very rare.
Just for fun (and inspiration) - you can also fit a VW engine in there (a lot of work) - here 's a Fiat 600 with VW power - it belongs to Peter
Englezos from Cogbox (performance VW gearboxes) in the UK.

pretty collectible these days, iv seen a couple fetch around the 14k mark, but these were obviously mint. if u can post up some pics of them i could
give u an idea of what they are worth.
as for the vw engine idea, its brilliant and has been done b4, those things weigh nothing but have plenty of room to accept a bigger engine.... iv got
2 fiat 126's (650)(basically newer version of the 500) and one of them might be getting a 1.9 tdi hahaha... see how we go funds and time wise.
Lee from macarthur grange (formally known as volkshaven) has a 126 aswel and from what i know is putting it on a modified vw chassis with a vw
engine..... look forward to seeing that thing when its up and running.... will be a mental little car

My friend has a 600 abarth and another 600 standard and a couple of vert 500's that the vert goeas all the way down behind the rear seat that a very
rare.
I know he paid 4000 for his abarth 600 about 12 years ago and it was ok condition. not mint but not a bucket of shit. Check all the things are there
like the badges, front clip and the struts that hold the boot up. It's the little things that are hard to find. Bit like early vw's

I'm a big fan of the fiat 500, Abarth are worth alot of coin, I stopped in at pedders in Hawthorn a while back, he has one out the front, set up for
sprints etc.
When I asked if it was for sale he laughed and said have you got 60 grand!! Obviously it had alot of work done but they are definately worth grabbing
if you can get them at a decent price. Awesome little cars!

Just spoke to my mate and it all depends on the year. If you can tell me the year he could tell you roughly what it is worth. Also he has a lot of
spares, but said there are a lot of replicas so make sure its original. If you post body numbers he can tell you. You can PM me if you want to keep it
off here.
Hope this can help.

The new 500 will also likely push up the exposure of the classic version too - will prob see a price increase in 500's.

Wow, thanks guys for the fantastic info. I have posted a photo of them. It's the best I could get as the owner is away for a few months, but have
been trying everyday to get a hold of him. Thanks Turbo54 for the offer with your friend. As soon as I find more info on them, I will PM you.
Cheers.

They look like fiat 600's not 500's. This is what his looks like but with a great big spoiler on the front and the boot propped open. They dont look
like abarths but maybe all the tell tales have been taken off. Let me know when you have the info. I really like the 600, much better than the 500 and
also a little bigger. There is a really nice silver one from overseas but they need big buck to get them to go or to VW transplant.

This is like my friends 600 abarth

I think bruizer means Renault Dauphine.
Here's one. (it's got a 1968 Type 1 engine in it and runs low 12's)

Bruizer is probably thinking of the Renault 750, which looks quite similar to the Fiat 600 (photo attached from Calder rallycross in the 1970s - this
750 had a Renault 16 motor - lot's of fun).
The two Fiats shown at the farm look like standard Fiat 600s, probably, OK almost certainly, not Abarths.
They're not a bad little car and quite well made, but they lack any concept of occupant protection and are prone to swing-axle oversteer (I had one
as my first car).

If you ever get hold of these two beauties and want to pass them on I would be interested in one. I have been looking for a 500 to resto for a few
years now but would take a 600 no probs.
