what year is my new old Karmann Ghia?
Hi all,
Sorry if it looks as though im hogging all the thread space on this forum but i have so many questions!
Can someone help me identify my latest Karmann project? I was told by the owner that it was a 63 but after looking at the 'US Karmann Ghia Vehicle
Identification Numbers' list see that it falls in the category of 61. Is this correct? or are the U.S numbers different from Australian?
My chassis number is '3 411 122'

The samba link provided by empikg is better, as it dates it as a 1961 model built in 1960.

hmmm interesting. Your correct. I wish i new why there is a sudden lack of information on the nose badges for that era. That is the 1960-61 model.
I have a feeling those years had a one piece badge that was stamped with the logo (or so i read on Samba). But why don't they sell them like they do
the other years? I think ill get a 62 onwards badge. Supposedly they fit all car since the posts are all the same distance apart. They look nicer
anyway.
