Buggy for sale...............maybe

With the rising cost of regitration and the fact that I have too many vehicles I might have to sell Jaffa..........098.

There are some pics of her in the album...... and I don't really want to sell her :mad:but if I did put her on the market are there still buyers out there. I was in this position in the last economice down turn some years ago and advertised on ebay and couldn't even get any interest at $3500.

So should I sell ..............what is a road worthy 4 seat (complied) buggy worth?

Gidday mate,

From the look of the photos it has been chopped around a bit (left side only has one rib) and I take it from its stance that it does not have the country buggy front end, and possibly the rear but it is a bit hard to see in the photos.

If you could describe it a bit better, such as engine size, rust condition you may get a better idea.

Cheers

Peter

When I got it I took the body off and had it sand blasted. It need some panel repairs but these were not done really well but at least it did have metal put back in (minus one rib). There was a lot of dinted panels that were filled in a hurry then roughly painted. It was never my plan to bring it back to original but also not just bog it. The guards have been cut back but a panel guy would be able to bring them pack to the original shape with not too many problems. I had new floor pans put in also. It has the country buggy front end and I had the king pins over hauled. I rebuilt the front seats (no the originals) and fitted a bench seat in the back from a Toyota Hiace bus. The rear seat and the roll bar are blue plated and it is regoed as a 4 seater. The engine is a 1600 twin port. A few oil leaks mainly fron the push rod tubes that I should have replaced when I fitted the rings etc. New stearing box fitted about 100 km ago, heavy duty coil over shocks on the rear. It was professiionally fully rewired when I did the rebuild and I fitted an alternator about 100 km ago.
It is not original or perfect but if some one wanted to rebiuld it to original it could be done with out the needed to remove the body.
I have a few extra spares including wiper motor, front end, gear box and reduction drives that have been overhauled.

You could always join the ManxClub and put it on Club rego..... has some limitations on use, but is much much cheaper than normal rego

I think the club/historic rego is too restrictive. I thought I could reduce my costs by changing it back to a two seat as original BUT made no dfference! I don't get it. The cost for CTP for a single seat Motor bike is $99, two seat is $289. I asked about changing the category to a ute or commercial vehicle but that was more expensive again. I'v got five regos to pay and it seems like it will cost around $680 to rego a 4 cyl car after June 30th:grind:. I only did about 400 km last year in the buggy due to weather and the fact that I got a 4WD to go up the beach now.
