The RestoRod - Norwegian slammer

Greetings from Norway :)

Just registered here. Looking forward to see what you guys are doing to your aircooled rides in Australia.

Here's som pictures of my ongoing project which will be on the road in a week or two.

Total rebuild the last two years. FLAT savannah beige. Full air suspension modified to lay the whole car physically on the ground. 4,5x15 in front and 8"15 widen steelies rear. Shaved doors. Bronze colored windows all the way around (incl. windshield)
Custom bumpers and exhaust. Bumpers will be flatt white as the wheels. +++++++

That's my AshPod ;) I have installed an iPod in the ashtray that is the only sound source in the car. Direct connected to a 6-channel amp under the hood.
When I close the tray you're not able to see that the car got a sound system at all.
the woofers are hidden behind the rearseat and I have also made a custom wall under the dash where the front system is hidden.

The whole car is silenced with FatMat.

The only place where the paint is NOT flat, is the chassi. Kinda funny :D 500+ hours of work before I even started working on the body. And I did not have any rust repairs at all. ;)

A picture from the build up..

Again WOW, that is just cool. I've never seen that style before, it's inspirational. And the negative camber with those wheels!

and good to see AC/DC has made it to Norway

It's a SEBRING exhaust, but I have changed the tailpipes to 2,5" and opened it more. A deeeep og pretty loud sound in it.

The engine is still the original one. 1200ccm 34hk :)
The plan was to build a powerful engine next winter, but I've just got my hands in a 1965 microbus deluxe, so I'm not so sure anymore.

I always try to build something "new". I'm tired of all the cars with the same old look/story. My motto is "DARE TO BE DIFFERENT"!

I love old rods and I wanted to mix the rod style with the resto style. There you got the project name, The RestoRod.

I also love extremly low cars. This is my second car with air suspension.
Modified frontbeam to be able to lay frame head and floor on the ground.
In other words, I don't need any parking brake *laughing*

My previous project was a 1985 Golf 1 Cab. The worlds first golf cab with removable roller bar! ;) Also with air suspension. I did a LOT of bodymods on this car. If you know this model you'll see them if you take a close look ;)

This is how VW SHOULD have made this car.

I am going to use a solenoid and a remote controll (which also is able to raise and slam the car). I'm doing this setup the next few days so I can post som pictures of it later.

Bought a so called "shave door kit" / "popout door kit" :)

Tried to look at the website you have on the window but it seems that it's just the front page at the moment. Any plans to expand it?

Howdy folks,

I´ve had summer vacation and I´m struggelig a bit to get the motivation back.
But I have worked with the bumpers and things are starting to look good.

Yesterday I layed some more füller on both bumpers. Here´s two good and "thick" layers on the rear bumper. This is done to make the profiles around the tubes etc perfect. The same "trick" is done on the front bumper.

http://vagner.jeje.je/bilder/albums/68_Type1/n549455702_2676795_2282705.jpg

And today the front bumper got it´s first layer of flatt matt. The paint is not dry on the pics so it is not completly flatt.
