Guys,

A mate of mine has a 1955 bug and is looking at getting rego soon in QLD, questions are in his beetle there is no hazard lights do the 55's have one or need one for rego?

Last week with our 68 baja getting its RWC the guy tried to fail it because of no reversing lights but came to his senses when I told him it never had any to start with, so hazards shouldn't be a problem.

Australian-sold Volkswagens were not fitted with 4-way emergency flashers until 1969. This was quite a few years before they were mandated by Australian design rules, and in fact at the time the authories tries to OBJECT to VW's emergency flashers. I am not sure when local design rules mandated the fitting of flashers, but it wasn't until the early 1970s at the earliest.

You certainly don't need to fit anything to the car that wasn't fitted in 1954 - you don't even need seat belts.
