[FS - SA] 1954 beetle ***SOLD****
I have had it for 15 years and it was in storage for the first 12. I was going to turn her into a turbo powered drag car but as she is in the first
week of Jan 1954 I decided not to chop her up and find another.
The car is 95% complete, and the shell and various pieces has been dipped so what you see is what you get. No rust just a few holes on where it
was.
It comes with all important:
Mint Triangle plated bonnet - $700 (I have another which I could sell and keep this one at a lower price).
W deck lid big spring no rust - $500
Heart Lights with original lenses mint no rust - 600-800
correct headlights - 300
Correct KMS speedo stamped 1.54 (mega rare and took 5 years to find) - 350
Bumpers
Correct H pattern interior, need retriming - 400
Luggage racks behind back seats (only on a few early ovals)
Matching pan and gearbox
All glass
Batwing steering wheel - 300
Correct door handles and window winders - 250
Big fuel tank and cap - 300
so totaled this all comes out to about $4000.
The dipping cost of the car was 1500
The need to gets:
I dont have the original motor for it but I do have a early oval motor but seized.
I need a drivers door as the one I have was way to rusty in the lower area for my liking- I have all internals just mot skin.
rubber floor mats (also rare as hens teeth)
It is the gray undercoat one at the start of this post.

The body has been split from the pan and dipped but then put back on the pan to store it while I work on my turbo car.
It has a little accident damage that was revealed to me after I got the car dipped in the passenger rear quarter panel that I have been looking for a
replacement panel. I also have collected some replacement panels for the rebuild. The pan is in great condition with no rust I have noticed. I
haven't looked for quite some time but it has been in dry storage since I have owned it. I was going to keep it for a future investment and build it
with my daughter but I am building a house and need the money.
As it is a Jan 54 it is properly one of the earliest ovals you may find. I really don't want to sell but sadly this is life.

$5000

Hi All, I edited this post as I f--ked what I was meant to type which was that the parts alone totaled 4000 and the price is 5000.
I wondered why I had so many PM's until I looked at what I had done. I will still post pics of it tomorrow night as promised to all those that are
interested.

Mate it was nothing like this. The parts I have collected for over the last 12 years for that car are worth more than 4000 if I sold them on evilbay
separately. I could just sell parts of it off to pay for the house like the bonnet, hearts and speedo, batwing and keep the car which is what I
actually are tempted to do. Then I still keep the car and just have to start seaching again. it was a genuine mistake. It is advertised elsewhere for
5k.

Hey Turbo, Do you kow the history of this car? The reason I ask is that the original "official" shipment had 31/33 late 53 Beetles which arrived
end of 53/start of 54, and apparently it took many months to sell them. I'm wondering how a Jan 54 fits in. There must be an interesting story to
go with it.
Thanks, Simon

No I don't know what the history is but I do know it was early and that VWtype2's 54 he is selling at the moment is also a January.
Sad to see this one go, I have had it for almost half my lifetime.
