Hi Matt,

will try to send you a PM still a newbie need more posts to Pm but will try.

Hello Nick , Been a while, i have a Sharpbuilt type 1 shroud already, Mike Sharp has been an absloute asset in helping me with this conversion, I recearched all Porsche fan conversions and I'd have to say that Sharpbuilt is by far the best in design and quality.

If you end up getting bits and pieces - I have seen on ebay that new replica 11 blade fans are regularly for sale from a seller in the states, and they are not too badly priced (around $150 US).

If you are building onto a Type 1 engine - my advice is the CSP kit. The reasons for this are:
CSP include a cast mounting block that just bolts onto the generator stand location.
The CSP version is the smaller diameter 240mm fan bracket, but they include a special curved vane fan that fits in, so it looks like the nicer but larger 12 blade. This will be quieter, but also means you can still close you decklid without taking out the grinder.

I have heard that Mike's kits are excellent quality - but as yet have not seen any in person.

I do have the CSP glass shroud for Type 4 motors and can vouch that the quality is flawless.

If you are running Type 4 - Remmele have a mounting block to fit the Type 4 engines. The only problem with them is that they do not take credit card, have no shopping cart option on their website, and after calling them and telling them that I am ready to order, they told me to send an e-mail from which I never heard back. :(

p.s. A seller in the states has just re-listed a 12 blade 260mm complete fan unit (alternator, mounting frame, and fan) and the price is currently only $450 US. Just search all topics for "Porsche Fan"

Thanks for the input, I have an after market fan with 90amp alt just for the record the replicas dont fit CSP or Sharpbuilt fan holes also i would have to say they are one of the most poorly constructed components i have ever seen, rough cast the outer ring is out of round and the fan blades rub in an odd way. This is the reason i am looking for a genuine fan, i have borrowed a mates genuine Porsche fan and it fits perfectly.
I have a Bergman shroud aswell which is flimsy at best and is virtually the same style as the CSP set up.
For more info check out http://sharpbuilt.com.au/sharpbuilt1/page13.htmCost  less to buy this kit from Mike than to import one here,
