whats cheap tho?

the engine itself maybe cheap but its the rest of the conversion that adds up

not to much in the way of cons, mainly that ur going thro all the same work involved as a 2.2 or 2.5 and only getting a 1.8
but with twin cams, 16 valves, fuel injection, self diagnostics etc its gonna make more power than most 1800 vws, be 100x smoother and more reliable and cheaper to maintain or replace

all the EJs are good motors, its mainly cooling issues that kill them

what he said! you can always bank on what joel says
there is way more cost in the rest of the conversion then the engine
