almost 1am as i posted, considering im up for work @ 5am when on days it was getting ridiculous, the relief when it all lined up as it should & shifted nice-ish (its all insanely tight) was worth it

DB, cheers dude, still struggling to get free time to get down to yours, its bloody irritating but ah well, engine is out for now so dont really need fuel system connected up yet.

radiator also has its fans test fitted, wow 2x 10" fans... cyclone inducing :D

up next, alot of ally tig work, will be... testing havent touched ally for awhile for anything that critical, ah well got a few meters of pipe lol
heading to nationals tonight/tomorrow morning after work & sleep sarvo :D
updates to follow nats

Kiss My Ass, Damo - From Dave

And do you know how cold it was in that bloody garage last night? Pole shorts and ugg boots are not designed for greasy shiftrod work! And still I stayed to help. Aren't I awesome? "Just five more minutes help, please?" Turned into an hour and a half. - From Steph.

I've hijacked his account 'cause I'm too lazy to sign into mine. :-) Now to go fish shifter parts out of the downstairs sink. Just what I had planned for my morning. Woo!! :spin:

shifter is a bugtech - from germany, their version of the berg i guess? either way i have both now so not complaining

shorten 35mm, kombi box is bigger in all directions & was pushed forward as much as possible so the rod had to be cut down to suit :)

its welded 2spots with the other bit of tube in it because the original weld wasnt the right orientation, cut it angry (badly) so had to remove a section & re adjust, worked well, pipe was conveniently the same external size :)

ok, as good as a holiday trip update can be...

thanks to the guy in the buggy with the bugtech at the sprints my thoughts of shit this is too tight were eased :)

thanks vwmad/shane for the doors, suprisingly decent condition for what i need/want, already out the back of the outlaws cleaned up & should be ready for the rrip home wednesday

sprints were good - despite a lack of several cars i was expecting to see, ahh well more fun next year right when everyones finished

pics of my shiny knob & the doors / one peice glass shortly after i get back to brissy!

ps - yep i still HATE sydney drivers/roads/concentrated levels of craziness - tho craig will probably say something about a dirty qld rego tiguan attacking him after a recommended 80kph sign

Psycho Qld drivers clearly aren't familiar with the M4 and Mr Policeman's habit of nabbing people on a Saturday evening. Sometimes local knowledge slows you down.

BTW the speed limit signs aren't a recommendation. :dork:

I did enjoy your creative lane changing though as I was heading off the next exit and you were trying to break a record for getting to Parramatta.

i was doing 110 according to my gps :D

the yellow ones that have bendy arrows on them with a speed underneath are purely suggestive, waaaay over used 45kph ones on the old highways down here too, never noticed before now

busy guy, had to get from goulburn to parra for the hotel, to penrith for old friends catch up & dinner, got back to parra around 230am so it was a good night and made it to dinner with a minute to spare, people down here are allergic to the lanes on the side of the roads, always heavy in the middle, minimal in the left unless getting on or off motorways & the right lane is just... people in camrys & old saabs doing 10-20ks under...

brissy traffic & relatively consistant speed/lane use is something nsw cant grasp, went past plenty of red & blue things and unmarked didnt raise an eyebrow :tu:

a roughly painted in rattle can to stop rust door is on, nutserts installed, bolts in place, side skirts have begun, bugtech is modified to work 100% flawlessly, minor fix, probably caused by my shift rod being 1deg out, think the guy with the buggy at the nats may find the same solution works for him too :) and sides, i need to see jezi with the shifter in, possible solution without bending the shaft! :D
gotta track down the handbrake plate to hold the cables, oh and can anyone confirm the thread is M8x1.0? if i cant find my plate i might make up something pretty for it instead.

oh & mr buuutttlleeeeerrrr, i think ive found a few other "little" jobs to request of you, pretty please- aiming to get that bolt to you on wednesday since ill be 1/2 way down there at norwell for the vw driving experience thing :D

Bloody hell... that's a serious sized bolt there DB !!!

(well, either that or it's a really tiny pressure plate and flywheel from an RC car or somethin...)

nope, he gets em wednesday, and hopefully a spanner to adjust them too, once perfected i might punch out a few, oh and i was wrong, i now need 38 36 & 22mm for the rear adjustment, no matter tho, needs to be different shapes anyway.

DB i should see you later this week - hopefully, have the ally i required for fuel rail brackets too :D

and... dub is on wheels, is low low low low low, engine/box mounts are mostly worked out, car will probably snap in half before it moves, apparently i overdo everything but oh well

and in sad news, i have to replace a rear 1/4 panel, i knew it was rough but stripped paint & horridifed how the repair was welded in so out with the grinders & drills, hello my other shell & off i go, should look ming when all done though - just very time consuming

sides, did i mention ive considered doing the dash swap on the ghia as a way of avoiding the rear 1/4 change? yup its pretty bad...

BIG load of pics & stuff coming soon, just ironing out some recent bugs

ps, thanks DB, that should be comfortably long enough to get everything tucked up nice & neat :tu:

pending work demands & usual hecktic life should see u sometime over the weekend/monday, apparently a bucks is happening sat/sun so hopefully monday :)

and in unrelated news....
ive been playing with reality instead of theory/mental images, hard to get a noticably more appealing line/curve, theres just sooo bloody many!
http://i975.photobucket.com/albums/ae239/STIDUB/IMG_9456s.jpg
more when the guards are actually glassed up for the ducting, neighbours dont like grinders at this time of night so cant do the metal stuff to put the guard on to do the glassing, oh well
http://i975.photobucket.com/albums/ae239/STIDUB/IMG_9462s.jpg
im sure those interested get the idea
also the bottom along the sides sits 110mm from ground = perfectly legal
thats prior to tyres/wheels tucking/rubbing on anything too so im pretty happy, suspension could be wound down even more but no need, the idea then is to keep anything & everything at that height or more off the ground. yes including sump & exhaust, thats where it gets difficult!
peace out everyone its waaaaaaaaay past bedtime, for the vwdcq members, id love a coffee at the meet
