Introducing myself and looking for some advice re Karmann Ghias

Hey everyone

My name is Nic and I am looking at purchasing my first Karmann Ghia. I have always loved them and wanted one so I thought the best start would be to talk to other KG lovers.

Haven't done a lot in the way of car projects but my ex (who will be known as "my mechanic) is a GT/Mustang owner and I have caught the car bug from him.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated - I have only just really started the search......

thanks

Nic

good luck nic, I always wanted a KG after finding a card in the weet bix in my early years. As soon as i spotted it it was the car that i knew i wanted. It was another 10 years before this eventuated and i have now owned the car for about 42 years. I courted my wife, brought my 1st and 2nd born sons home from hospital, used it for my son's wedding and still love the little car. It is a part of my family and my wife and I still enjoy our sunday drives as much as in the past.Cheers Les and I hope you find your dream car.(check carefully prior to purchase as there are quite a few pitfalls)

Hi,

I have owned a 1964 Karmann Ghia for 10 years. Its a lovely little car. I kept an eye out for about 12 months before I found what I wanted.

I would recommend you read a lot about the cars before you buy one, and try to find one that is as original as possible.

There are plenty of info sources on the net. The Samba is good, as is The Online Karmann Ghia Resource. The latter has a section about Karmann Ghia books, some of which I have bought and really enjoyed.

Also check this link to Karmann Ghia Parts & Restoration:

Good luck!
