canoot get a hard brake peddle with my dua lmasterfor the fourth time.HELP...


well this is the fourth time i have bleed the brakes with my new dual master/c...and can not get a firm peddle at all.... i have installed a dual master reservior bottle,flexi lines are ok,nothing leeking at all...and adjusted the free play twice with the stop plate under the peddle assembly...

i filled up the bleeder bottle 3 times per nipple with a continual flow of fluid just to make sure..

as soon as i take it for a drive i have no brakes till about the last inch, but the brakes arent that great..... but if i take the car out of gear with plenty of speed and pump the brakes till i get a firm peddle the brakes work better then ever, i can lock them up when i couldnt with the single master...

everyone i have talked to can not figure this out.... its driving me nuts and i have a autokhana next sunday that i want to race in......

oh yeah last time i intaled the master cylinder i had the same problem, so i put the single master back in and got a firm peedle after i bleed the brakes.....hhhhhmmmmm

it cant be the dualmaster/c because this is the second master i have tried......from new..... please help, or ill have to find a bridge.....lol....

check length of master cylinder push rod( at brake pedal)
are you bleeding furthest line first then second ect
did you adjust the brakes at the hubs

i have adjusted the rear shoes and the front pads are fine..
and i have bleed them from furthest line first..

now the pushrod i have left the same as it was in the single master, but adjusted the free play buy adjusting where the stop plate is.... could this be my problem ????

do i have to lengthen the pushrod and have the peddle sitting closer to the rear of the car. so i have more pushrod length,in and out ?????

i have about or 1-2cm freeplay at peddle. if i make the pushrod longer the peddle with be sitting further out.. ill try this.... maybe its my bleeding skills, ha, shit house...
would it be that the peddle had been pumped while the nipple was closed.1 airbubble could turn into a thousand tinny ones,maybe...

ill try again tomorrow...

where does all the fluid go there should be a poddel of it or you may be getting bleed back from the double system

i have clear hose from nipple into a bottle,and keep topping up reservior...

Did you bleed the master cyl before you installed it? If not, bleed it at the lines coming out of the master cyl. Have an assistant pump up the pedal until it gets firm then hold pressure on the pedal while you crack open the line.

Adjust the master cylinder pushrod until you have approx 3mm movement before it hits the piston,bleed the master cyl at the pipes on the master cyl,hold the pedal down and close the tube each time before letting the pedal return,then bleed each wheel starting with the longest line and remembering to close the bleeder before leting the pedal up.The hose from the bleeder should also go upwards before draining into bottle.I use a commodore washer valve to stop the air moving up the hose into the cylinder. Give this a try. Cheers Les

Mate there is no such thing as a silly mistake by me, ask any politician it's always someone elses fault and they didn't do it or it was on a white board or............... Glad you fixed the problem that was someone elses fault. les

rear drums were not adjusted near enough.... oh well,i learnt now... the brakes are so much better...

why laugh? there is always room for improvement... better to check something simple than to end up spending extra money.... should take my own advice here. :)
