KO 677

Hi there,

I'm new to the forum and new to Country Buggies. So new in fact, i bought mine today!

My buggy has obviously been changed about in it's past. I wonder if anyone can tell me if they have seen it before?

It has not got the original bonnet, its original turn signals are gone and have been replaced with 1303 ones and the suspension is irs at the rear and there is a ball joint system up front. For some unknown reason, somebody has also fitted 'elephant feet' rear lights from a 1303 as well.

The chassis number does start with 118.

I know very little about it as the cb came with no documents. Who do i need to contact to get further information? Is it something VW of Germany would have on record or is it a case of contacting VW Australia?

Anyway, pics to follow once they have uploaded to photobucket.

All help, advice, opinions would be very appreciated. :)

Thanks in advance. :)

I paid $5000 AUD including transportation.

Future plans include a repaint, different wheels, fabricating an original style exhaust, replacing the front indicators and possibly the rear light units.

Oh and smoothing those 3 guages out of the dash.

I shall of course update as work progresses.

Welcome to AVD

Chris,
Welcome to the wierd and wonderful world of Country Buggies. I have a pretty fair knowledge of most things relating to the CB and have written the detailed article you possibly read on the internet.
You Buggy looks like one I have seen pics of before but I cannot place it at the moment. It will come to me.
Where are you located.?
I can help with front indicators and rears as well if you wanted to get them both back to original albeit not painted black.
Send me your email address to countrybuggybill@hotmail.com and we can talk.

Chris,
I knew I had seen a pic of this vehicle. Back in 2006 I received a photo from a guy in the UK (Tadpole) with a photo of the vehicle. It looks the same now except the front driving lights are not on the vehicle. He did not tell me any KO or other deails of the vehicle so it has been listed on the CB Register without a location except the UK.
I guess that answers my earlier question where you are located.

If you want any parts, please send me an email to countrybuggybill@hotmail.com. On Tuesday next week I an leaving for overseas and will be in the UK for 3 weeks or so commencing 7th September. Maybe we can catch up.
Let me know
Regards,
Bill.

Looks like a good starting point, I did notice that its not the correct rear end. Looks like its IRS and not swing axle.
It maybe be on a later beetle pan.

A good clean with high pressure water cleaner and I reckon you'll have a "weeee ripper".

Nice find.
