Rims Selection

What rims do you guys think would look better on my car, these arent the exact rims i would get they are just rough ideas.

Here is a pic of my car as is, it will be getting either mirror tint or limo black soon.

http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/71-BEETLE-SEDAN/My%20Car/P1010012.jpg

This is the first type, something like this, like joels rims.

http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/71-BEETLE-SEDAN/anzssd1.jpg

The second like this, like the japanese drifting rims.

http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/71-BEETLE-SEDAN/gt6_hyperblack1.jpg

The third like this, some chrome ones.

Let me know your ideas, i know im calling on peoples opinions but im just wondering what you all think.

Yeah im getting new discs and drums to suit whatever rims i choose. Most of those rims come in 6.5 or 7 inch widths so clearence should be a majour issue.

The vault in my opinion is one of the ugliest wheels ever made. Any of the others you've listed would be a great improvement over the vault. In fact, the stock steelies on your car now are better than the vault. And to think, some people say I need to keep my thoughts to myself : )
Happy motoring, have fun with the new wheels.

I agree... I'd say stay with stock rather than get super bling bling chromies.... It makes old cars look worse!

Considered just painting the stock rims? Getting wider steelies in the stock pattern?

I'm with everyone else. I reckon those chromies are hideous but hey everyone likes different stuff. I like the first ones but thats just cause they are similar to mine. Those jap wheels, similar to a volk one i have in my mind, are my favorite rim on other cars. They just suit other cars. I have never seen them on a bug but that blue one looks good. Take a look at volk. They do quality rims and i like the look of theres better than the ones on the blue bug. Thicker and more curved spokes

my opinion would be the second set deep dish and ride height adjustment would suit your bug, half black and mirror tint would make it look good

those formula vee rims are cool looking but ading tires to that cost is pretty high. after seein that blue bug i am not goin with the vaults. eventually ride height will come down and i saw a car on the weekend with the two tone tint and liked it. just depends on cost

i got told that the tints chrome n black were 50 bucks extra compared to the dark dark tints.material is abit dearer yada yada yada. get a price from your car audio places they usually do tints aswell or would know someone who does.should be paying no more that $200-$250 for a bug in chrome n black.
also you might have to narrow your beam if you go 17s on your bug otherwise.id go chromies on that dont worry what everyone else thinks ;) 17s mild hieght adjustment stainless running boards tints.would be the shit:crazy:

I'm crazy so don't listen to me but some of the wheels around are so heavy they will make your bug very unnice to drive and if you've ever had wheel shimmy before with stock wheels imagine it with heavy rims it aint pretty but it may look pretty. If i were you i'd ask some questions regarding the total weight ready to fit and go from there. If you want light shiny and cheap with correct offset for a bug you can't beat a set of cookies!

I am with you Col go for something light much better

I hope you also realise that if you go much bigger than 6 inch you will run into suspension and inner guard problems with tyre rubbing

the otehr way is of course to fit wider guards and have a different offset

Hi
I have the Nissan Skyline stud pattern, 114.2 x 5 from memory. It's the same as Ford Falcon, Toyota Camry & Rav 4.
if u want a really nice cheap set of wheels, u can't go past nissan R32 skyline wheels, they are perfect for our beetles, 16 x6.5 inches clear everything, even big 4 pot calipers, the are light & best of all cheap as the skyline boys don't want them.
I run a set on the track, I got mine for $150 & they are mint, they didn't even have a scratch on them, I'm sorry now I painted them black.
Another good thing is that u can also use the skyline space saver which should easily fit in your spare wheel well.
It also nice to have a set of wheels on your beetle that no one else has.

Heres some ebay links for u.
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NISSAN-SKYLINE-R32-ORIGINAL-SPACE-SAVER-SPARE-TYRE_W0Q...

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NISSAN-SKYLINE-R32-GTS-T-ORIGINAL-ALLOY-WHEELS-TYRES_W...

I run even bigger wheels daily, they are 17 x 7 with quite large 205/50r17 tyres, with big Nissan R32 skyline brakes up front. I have noticed absolutely no difference with all the extra weight , I don't have shimmies or handling problems. Don't be put off by some of the comments.

regards
Jak

PS if u put those vault wheels on your car, U should be banned from the forum & have your car confiscated from u! Just kidding.....

The V Force Spyder wheel is one of the lightest around and they come in 2 different offsets. 20ET and 36ET

Tyres are cheap as they are 15" x 6"

If interested give Richard a call as he has a set with rubber on that is near as new - done done a few laps of the block
