Door Removal?
I need to remove the doors from my 56 Beetle. I can't loosen a single screw - is this a common problem? Any suggestions? Would it be quicker to drill
them out and replace?

don't bother using a philips head screw driver. they are tight as nuns!
If you can get a philips head bit on the end of a socket, and use a wrench, that would be the go.
OR
From supercheap for $13 ish, you can get a hammer wrench/punch/driver thing, takes philips head socket bits in the end, wack it with a hammer and it
rotates it (to loosten tight philips head screws)
If using the socket, obviously push hard so not to stuff the head of the bolts,if you have those little hexagonal screw driver bits (for drills or bit
multi screw driver things), and can find a small enough socket to take it, than that will be the go.
(BTW. the bit that holds the super cheap hammer punch thingo, has a 1/2'' socket bit (detatchable) on the front of it and will hold the philips head
bit it comes with. Put it on a 1/2'' wrench and bobs ur uncle!

I aasume you have soaked them from both sides with the good old WD40,be careful with impact drivers as you can collapse the door pillar(depending on
condition and amount of rust). A large phillips with a hex on the shaft for a spanner is very good,perhaps a little heat on the screw head and as a
last resort a drill.

Thanks, will locate a socket type phillips head and give that a go. Have soaked all screws with penetrene, will leave for a few days before having
another go.

Over the years of trying different penetrants there was nothing working really good...untill I discovered this...

That "thingy" is called an IMPACT DRIVER Chris!! Everyone should have one in their toolbox.
