IRS suspension setup

Hi,

I have an IRS setup from a VW (well, the arms themselves are custom, but the rest is all VW) on my buggy.... each side has the arm joined onto the torsion bar, and the "inner" side of the arm is bolted through a bush (using the big IRS bolt, and 2 big washers)...

now, when I dismantled it, it had one washer on each side of the bushing, however, I was told that both washers are supposed to be on one side of the bush, but I can't remember which side he said :P
can anyone enlighten me?? :)

hopefully someone understands what I'm talking about.... :)

Cheers

There is no wrong or wrong where the washers go it depends on how your arms line up for rear wheel alignment, you move the washers from side to side on the bolt to adjust the trailing arm.

Someone else may have a better description on what they do but that is the basic idea.

thanks :)

just to confirm, that is, both washers should be at the "head" end of the bolt, not near the thread?
