It's a pretty common thing to do with cars for movies... custom build multiple cars for different purposes. This one would've been a stunt car....
you want something easy to fix/patch up for "incidents" that happen, so you go for the cheapest and simplest mechanicals, a really strong frame
(check out the cage) and easily replaced exterior panels. Basically a sand rail with a body hung on it.

I originally thought someone has been smoking way too much weed. I can only hope this lead to some nice footage of an airborne skyline landing
motorcross style. I can't imagine why else you woudl spend that much money to create something like that.
