Rods

Hi Guys

These VW rods, I noticed journals have the same taper on both sides, they dont have an oil slot, the oiling holes for the pin are the same no matter which way you put them, the only thing i can see is the rod is slightly offset.

So my question is, when installing the rods, which way do the go, large offset rear or small offset. I presume this just locates the pin central in the rod and if you swap it around the pin would be offset.

Thanks Trev

Trev,
They have a raised ridge about halfway along the beam. Install facing UP. Two to the right facing UP, two to the left facing UP. Visualise the rods installed on the crank in their individual cylinders:crazy:.
