Anyone impoted a VW from the USA?

Hi, I'm new. Intro thread here http://forums.aussieveedubbers.com/viewtopic.php?tid=79783&page=1#pid742521 

Has anyone imported a VW from the USA. I want to bring in another Speedster replica built on a Beetle floorpan. They are titled and registered in the US as whatever year floor they use. ie mine is a 1964 Beetle, although the car was built in 2001. As it has a totally differnt body attached, I'm wondering if this is going to be a problem? Perhaps someone who has bought a buggy in might know more.
