Check you yellow pages for metal spinners they may have the dies to make custom ones to suit your application.I know there is a place in melbourne and
all they do is ram tubes, turbo intakes etc i've used exhaust tube flared out that worked well but its not coolbut hey i'm crazy and poor!

With my engineering hat on I'd say that Dave is getting less entry loss with the large smooth radius on those puppies. A correctly sized bell mouth
can better than halve the losses compared to a straight inlet. (I work in industrial ventilation and noise control, its the same concepts on a larger
scale.)

Unfortunately Kris, the 13 hours on the lathe,
and 200 odd dollars worth of material,
would most likely prove to be false economy!

Dear Dave...just worked out how a woman can't fit in your budget. There would be too much competition
with the power bill on the lathe !!!

lol thats fine dave no worries at all im sure il come across something.. The hardest part is just finding something that will fit with the correct
bolt pattern... I have the original stacks which have been machined down so that the air filters slip over the top but do not see them being efficient
enough for racing.. I noticed CB performance have 6 " race stacks to fit their 48 mm throttle bodies. I assume they would bolt on but would the 2mm
difference be something to worry about?.. And would shorter wider mouthed stacks be more benficial?...

They CAN fit in my budget,
but I just dont have the nerve to use the ones that are, "pay as you go"!!
Kris, you may need to get something the correct size.
While a 50mm throat,(or even 45) should in theory, be more than enough for your engine,
any steps are a bit bogus.
Ultimately you are looking for a gain,
so I would have to advise making, or acquiring, the correct item,
and make sure the engine is then, not too lean after fitment, due to increase air flow.(yes, back to the dyno).
