Insurance

Hi

I just did quote on how much it would cost a 17/18 year old to insure a 70's beetle (compreshensive with aami), and apparantly thats over $700 a year!!!! That seems rediculous for a 40 year old car with a rather small engine. Then again am I wrong? Any prefferd/reccomended insurance companies?

Thanks:D

Ryan

They are insuring the driver moreso than the car. The same car with a different friver over 35 for example may only be $200 per year.

At the end of the day it is not just about whether you can afford the insurance. It is whether you think you can afford not to have it!

its crazy... i had no choice but to go 3rd party fire and theft.... simply cause i couldn't afford it.

:tu:

As long as my backside is covered to pay for damaging anyone elses car... if i write off mine... then its a lesson to me i guess :)

If someone else writes off my car then their insurance or a law suite will cover it :tu:

It's deffo down to age. Price for an 18 year old is going to be way higher than someone like myself (35) who has over 15 years of driving experience. That's how it works unfortunately. :(
We just swapped our Beetle insurance to Shannons and it came to just over $200 full comp.

Young guns are more prone to knocking corners off vehicles statistically. Insurance companies always want the odds in their favour.
