Karmann Mini Resto

Howdy Dubbers,

A couple of months ago some twit scraped down the side of the Karmann and then drove off. Nice. Luckily a nice old lady took down his details and Shannons did the rest, hooking me up with the guys at Detroit Custom Bodyworks in Artarmon http://www.detroitcustom.com.au

They suggested doing a mini restoration at the same time so popped the all the glass, buzzed the paint back to metal and banged out some of the dings and ripples, thankfully they found zero rust which must be a first for a Karmann.

It still has to be colour sanded and buffed to get rid of the orange peel but I'm pretty stoked with how it's turned out, here are a couple of pics...

Cheers Guys,

Not too sure what is going on with the front end, seems to be sitting a couple of inches higher after they resto, I'm hoping it will settle after a few more k's.

Newtown is the bump parking capital of Australia, my daily Beetle is taking a hammering just being parked up in the street. I'm hoping to get the body sorted early next year.

By the way does anyone know who the Newtown VW Club are? I found a sticker on my back window the other day but can't find them on the world wide superhighway.

Lucky bastard, looks unreal. Well done !

I may have to give Arthur and Adam a call myself. Just need someone to sideswipe my Ghia to help with my mini resto too.

it looks good
nice colour
you just need to get the rear end adjusted back up, it looks like it has sagged a bit over the years.

Cheers Guys, I'm sure your right about the sagging bum, I'll get it looked at next time it gets a service. I'm still stoked everytime I see it!
