Lowring

Hey, I heard a rumour that i can lower the front of my car by removing torsion bars.

Its a 71 Standard.

I posted this on the samba but got one person saying its good and another guy saying dont do it, also i havent been on there in a while but it seems that the majority of people on it have no patience or manners. Compared to here where everone helps out no matter how dumb the question.

Okay back to the lowering. I got told by onwe guy on samba that i should remove one small one from top and bottom, would that mean top bar and bottom bar or trwo from both.

its not a good method and would be illegal if it was policed
its essentially the same as cutting springs

if you want a bolt on solution get dropped spindles

if you want an adjustable solution get some adjusters welded into your beam

both are nice and safe/legal and dont effect ride quality

call george at classic he has the drop spindals for under $200.00 an easy fix and you keep the confey ride
as for torsin bars 2 top 2 bottom and 2 splines rear will give you 2.5 inches thats if your bars arn't a bit sagey already

Yeah the rear is already sagy so im gunna make it have a slightly forward slant.

Ill probably be getting enough money for spindles in around 4 weeks.

don't you still need to narrow the beam with drop spindles or the tyres rub on the guards?

gsa2at fitted drop spindles to his '68 semi auto and the standard wheels/tyre combo rubbed even in a straight line. They pushed the wheels out about 5/8 of an inch a side. It's now got a narrowed adjustable beam, making the drop spindles fairly unnecessary.
