Gear Shift Clunky

Hi,

Shifting the Gears on my vintage VW 60s bug is clunky in all gears - including 3 and 4 at speed.

Changing to 1st gear at stop is also getting a bit sticky.

I'm not too sure whats wrong. The engine and gearbox and clutch cable were changed not too long ago. And I don't drive it everyday.

I also don't ride the clutch at Stop or Giveway signs.

Any ideas?

First thing to do is change the bushing and rear coupling

Do a search - pretty sure Joel has done a "how to"

Look in Rob & Daves site as well

I checked Rob and Daves site - but their remarks refer to a newer model beetle.

Mine is a 1964 model.

Can you provide a link for Joel? Thanks?

Pardon me... How does a clunky gear shift get affected by the cable clutch?
