doghouse conversion

Hi tech heads,

just wondering if you can add a doghouse cooler and shroud without upgrading the fan to a wider unit.

thanks

[size=4]NO

There will be about a 10mm gap between the fan and the shroud...

I tried this... [unbeknown to Me]
I thought that My alternator would naturally have the wider fan
attached to it... burnt the paint off from over the heads..found the wider fan was on My generator... lol

so... the fan cannot suck air in successfully with the narrow fan in the wider housing...

also.. no air will go to the doghouse oil cooler at all...

cheers

LEE

thanks.
sounds like an expensive mistake to make. I will track one down.
Is there only 2 types, one small one large. My motor is a 1600 twin port with a generator.
Cheers for the quick reponse.

I imagine ther are more than 3 sizes...

the 1200 the 1500 single port and the 1600 DP Fan...

there may be a few other sizes when kombis are included..

I will measure the correct one for You tomorrow,,

so long as its off a 1600 twin part...

cheers

LEE

Doghouse fan is the only wider fan, all the others are the same width, there are some variations with the number of blades ie fewer on 36 hp fans, but thats all. Oh, some vary at the hub offset too, but that can be adjusted/corected with the correct boss and/or shims.
