050 distributors
anyone know anything about this model distributor?
i currently use a 009 on more or less standard 1600 with twin kadron kit. cars goes great except for flat spot down low but is quite drivaable.
however i tried the 005 out of curiosity this arvo and first impression is the flat spot is pretty well cured and the transition is much smoother than
the 009, ie advance comes on earlier thus lessening or eliminating the flat spot.
the little research i have done would suggest they are not suitable for type 1 engine?
i would like to get a new cap and rotor and use it but don't want to if it really isn't suitable? any thoughts?
phil.

From memory..
I thought they may have been used by VW or used them as replacements..
there was the 010 and the 050... I get mixed up with both of them....
they are listed in the Bosch distributor list I've seen...
My Son is running one in His 1835cc engine and has no problems at all...
I thought they may have used odd caps-rotors and points???
not sure....
If it works for You.. Go for it...
the 009 distributor has never been used on any VW vehicle and they have never ever sold them.....or authorised them to be used....
009s they are NON Genuine... and cheaper than the SVDA dizzy..
many 009s now come from china-Brasil- SVDA from there too.
German BOsch 034 SVDA from aircooled.net in the USA
is the only way to go.... add pertronrix...
put the condensor & points away...
