Have driven a few Volkswagen models to the ski fields and never had any problems with traction.
I used to drive my 63 bug to Perisher Smiggins (now known as Perisher Blue) on a regular basis for skiing weekends. I then moved up to a 91
Transporter/Camper and this was probably one of the best vehicles I have ever owned. It was also great to drive on the icey roads. We drove the
Transporter from the Smiggins Holes Carpark to Guthega one year over mud, ice and snow. Did'nt need a 4wd. I have taken my 65 bug to the Snowy's as
well but, so far only in the dry seasons.
I now have a Golf as my daily drive and it will see many more skiing trips away as well.
