Kombi in Blue Heelers
I was at a friends place last night and she said to look at an episode of Blue Heelers she taped that had her brother acting in it.
He was the bad dude that was driving (flogging the guts out of) the Kombi.
Seems silly for a bad guy to be driving a Kombi for two reasons
Most Kombi drivers are not so inclined to be bad guys.
Most Bad guys are not really going to drive something as slow as a Kombi. :o

Yeah Pete, saw that episode and was trying to workout why you would use a Kombi as a getaway car. Some things just dont make sense...

It depends what you're trying to get away with.
I know they didn't use a kombi, but did you ever see "Up in smoke"?

Stop dissin' Kombis: The type 2s actually performed bloody well for a van of their era and it was a long time before anyone could compete with
the prestige of the type 4s! OK, too many stock Kombis are driven by hippy wannabes these days, but my '69: 1600 with a 30pict Brasilian carb
could cruise at 100kph (though it was happier at 85...)
And, it started every time. And I could fix it on the road with a box of matches, a roll of baling wire and a roll of gaffa tape!

If you guys want to actually watch a Kombi being used as a getaway car (successfully, too). go down to your local video shop and borrow The Delta
Force (1986), starring Lee Marvin and Chuck Norris.
Typical bang-shoot-em-up war movie (fantastic!), set in the middle east. Lee and Chuck are the good guys, rescuing hostages from Palestinian
terrorists.
Anyway, there's a scene where they're spying on the baddies from a white late '70s Kombi. They're spotted and the baddies give
chase in jeeps and trucks. The Kombi roars off at high speed through the narrow streets and steps of beirut. It goes VERY fast, so it's obviously
been souped up.
I won't spoil the ending. But get it out!
