VW Insulation
I was removing the carpet and insulation from the firewall of my beetle today and it produced large clouds of dust so I thought to myself how bad it
would be if it was asbestos insulation, I thought about it more and came to the realisation that its from the right time period and could quite easily
be asbestos.
Does anyone know if I'm right or not?
Cheers
Mike

I doubt it Mike...
there is asbestos spacers inside the plastic heater hoses between the engine and body on later model beetles..
mid 60s on...
I pulled all mine out too...
I have used EVA YOGA mats all over My beetle for sound and noise reduction.. two layers on the roof...

Thanks Lee thats good to know but I'll stick to my p2 respirator, having lungfuls of nearly 50 year old dust isn't much fun
You answered my next question before i asked it
will I need anything to insulate the cab from heat from the engine compartment?

Yes
EVA yoga mat foam everywhere , in doors, in panels on floors around the engine oner the gearbox...
certainly no heat coming thru..
My Sons oval beetle without any noise reduction...
gets very hot behind the back seat....
Cheers Lee
