I think I just broke my diff

I have a 67 van IRS with an Lbug ssp gearbox Albins gears and a super diff. Running a Subaru ej20 turbo. All has been going well until without warning I pull sedately away from a set o lights and bang. If I try to move it it sounds like someone is belting the rear end with a lump hammer. It seems to knock about once every revolution of the wheels. Rolling is much quieter than in gear. Cv's seem ok. Any thoughts? :(

Sounds like the crown wheel and peanut.
OUCH!

When you get it re-done, get a really good side cover to keep the crown wheel in mesh.
That is the toughest challenge with the bug box.

Am I likely to do any more damage getting it towed. Should I take the drive shafts out first?
