is it a stock steering wheel or sports one?

i had a similar problem years ago after putting a sports wheel in one of my bugs
except it was flashing the highbeams instead of beeping the horn

the gap between the steering wheel and the column was too small causing pressure on somehting as i turned
the column mounts are slotted so u can loosen the bolts off and slide it down for a bigger air gap
