Administrivia: Best time to do backups?

Hi there,

Can folks indicate when they would the least annoyed if the forum was offline for a couple of hours?

The problem is that MySQL does not have a reliable online (hot) backup option. I can backup whilst you folks use the forum, but the forum becomes so unresponsive that it is just better if I turn it off and get 'er done quicker. However, my favored time (12 am Sundays) is no longer working for me as the forum now takes > 2 hours to backup. I have to get up in the mornings, and if I go to sleep before it finishes and don't turn it back on, Monday doesn't happen here. :-(

From logs, the first option is the quietest period in the entire week. The other two options fit in with my schedule, but are busier. In particular, Friday nights is fairly busy, so this option would have to win by a big margin for me to choose it.

So please let me know the best time to backup the forum.

thanks,
Andrew

Thirded, as painful as the temporary separation might be, the back up is more important, and I'll take it as a sign to go do something on the car.

Sunday mornings get's my vote.

Best time to turn spanners on a Volksy I reckon... late enough that the neighbours can't really complain, but still early enough that it hasn't gotten too hot in the shed yet !!!
