Discovery Channel - Tue 29 Dec 8:30 - Overhaulin' VW Microbus

Hi guys,

I know there is a substantial thread about this episode on the Samba (surprise, surprise the purists don't like it), but I haven't seen the episode yet and according to the TV guide it's on tonight on Discovery Channel at 8:30.

Thought I'd give anyone interested the heads up.

That thing makes me want to gag, why the hell did they do that to the indicators? The fish eyes look worse than a bra-less Nanna!

Thanks for the heads up re the show. I obviously haven't seen the show or know what the Kombi looked like before the makeover, but I bet the owner is happy as a pig in mud compared to what it may have been like before the show. Yes, we all have different tastes, but to have someone else spend 50K + on your car is fantastic. I dont think the owner will be saying he doesn't like it and put it back to how it was. I too also dont agree with a few of their mods.

Sorry, just looking at this from another prospective. See what happens when you have another birthday (today) and get a little wiser

Well I've now watched it, and I don't mind it. It wouldn't be what I would do if I was fortunate enough to have a bus and sufficient funds, but I don't mind it. Obviously there are those who don't appreciate the different things Chip did, but frankly I think they're quite minor, and even if they aren't to your taste, you can see what he was trying to do.

I think it's easy to forget that each has their own taste, and some very fine examples of certain styles owned by people on here aren't going to float the boats of others on here. If we all stayed locked into exactly the same style then it would get very boring very quickly, and I appreciate seeing how an 'outsider' like Chip Foose would think about things. I think the most important thing is that another bus will live to see another day, rather than rusting to death due to lack of funds.

Certainly if I owned a bus and had no hope of ever fixing it up due to lack of funds, I'd be more than greatful for the attentions of Mr Foose.
Cheers
Craig

saw it on disc2 at 10.30. I thought it was ok. LIked the side trim idea. Dont like the script placement on the front. Should have put it on an angle following the vee on one side.
Disapointed that Foose bought off the shelf empi stuff for the engine and didnt custom build here.
