I've seen some much rustier bugs (and all kinds of other cars) repaired in the UK. Welding up cars is just a part of life there because they all rust so fast, even when they buy late '90s cars over there they more or less expect to have to weld on a few patches to the floor and some new inner wheelarches. I just count myself lucky to live here in Australia where the cars rust slower!

I've seen a 99 Golf IV here that was imported from Europe and its all rusty underneath like nothing I've ever seen here
