Project Ratback
Picked up another fastback today at a price i just couldn't say no to.
Runs great, drives beautiful, minimal rust and only a few dents. Interior is a little bashed but im not too fussed.
Plans:
Slam
Walls
Matt/Satin Black (possibly)
Put on my mint bumpers maybe?
Open to suggestions? Especially for colour scheme.
I have lots of other ideas but im looking for suggestions until i decide exactly what im doing.

Whoever thought of sticking the front indicators out that far unprotected has something to answer for, eh mate? I've got similar damage on mine,
unfortunately I wiped off the lens on a gatepost whilst trying to leave the previous owners' property!

Crappy photoshop but you get the idea, just tossing a few things around. Current paint matte'd back with splashes of satin blak here and there.

I think it looks to good to rat. Do the same as you have done to the orange one and have a pigeon pair or book ends.

This man speaks the truth! A nice looking fastback. I don't mind the satin black two-tone effect, but perhaps leave the red parts looking shiny?
Would make for a bit of contrast.

Type3's notch is probally more the look im going for i think.
Took a few pictures of the bad points today and people are probally right, it is actually pretty good. Might just have a few dents knocked out and
maybe a couple touch ups then maybe matte the paint back and have some fun from that point.
Also dropped the front a few splines
Heres the bad points:
Drivers seat of the year goes to me!

whoa.....love that seat back mate!! Stylin!
The rest of it looks pretty good....what you are calling 'the bad bits', dont seem all that bad and with a good tidy up will hardly be
noticeable.
Keep the red one and sell that crappy orange one to me! ......sorry mate, bit of jealousy creeping in there!
You definitely have a nice pair of Fastys,
All the best,

dropped the back end today and it turned out too low
I was hoping the height would be even with the front.
I feel too hood rich (commodore style) with the height like this.
Ohh by the way check out my sick exhaust haha
Thats two splines (outer) does anyone have any time on how to disengage inner and outer splines separately? How it should feel etc?

Should probally mention this car is being done on a budget. No big expenses.
I don't have the knowledge or the experience to pull off that sort of conversion too.
Car is going up 1-1.5" on rear tomorrow when i figure out how to disengage the inner splines.
Also stay tuned for 3" walls.

New 3" whitewalls (not for everyone, i think they f@$king rock)
Painted inner guards
Raised rear and dropped front (slight rake)
Now what colour should i paint the wheels?

Stance is right now. Good job on that. 3 inch whites are great. I'd flick the caps, and just paint the rims black. Hunt out some chrome bullet wheel
nuts along with the spun bullet centres and you're done. Easy, budget friendly job, and will continue to turn heads with what you're done. Fix up
the rust and just leave those patches in undercoat, then on those flakey bits on the body, just wet rub them through for some patina, buff it up, and
you're done.

Beautiful! Perfect stance. I'd go for black wheels and keep the stock hubcaps, the whole 'chrome nuts and bullets' thing just seems too "scene"
and overdone to me, plus I just generally love the stock hubcaps. Loving the exhaust too!

Im leaning towards the bullet look at the moment but im not 100%, i havent seen it done much on vw's so i dont think its overdone just yet.

Back can go down but front scrapes pretty hard. Thats 4 splines on front with no bumpstops. Walls make it look a little higher i think.

Spend a little time on my red vw lately, got my graphics (stripes and Numbers) and they look awesome. Stripes were a nightmare and didnt turn out well
but it goes well with the overall theme.
Started to matte back the paint, still need a little more rubbing on boot and a couple spots.
Wheels also painted black and decided not to run hubcaps.
Also no rear bumper!
