car wont start


hi i have a 71 squareback, and when i went to start it today nothing happened, i turn the key and nothing, it doesn't turn over, i seem to have the electrics tho, would this be the generator or maybe something else
please help

the battery flat or dirty connection?? did you check em.
is it a manual you could try and clutch sstart it.

checked the battery and terminals they are fine, i was tempted to push start it but i dont want to have to push it back home if it doesn't start

does the battery have 12 volts
can you hit the starter with a hammer then try key again

test the battery first and see if it has charge grab a bit of wire and put 1 end on 1 termanal and toutch the other t6erminal if it melts its ok if only gets hot charge it up or remove it and take it to a sparkie and get him to test it
