3D Computer CAD Design of performance type 1 engine cases
Hey guys found this on ebay and thorght i would show you all. It is a 3D C.A.D Design for computer so you take it to a metal whatcha call it and there
computer cuts and designs the engine cases off this design. if i had the money i would buy it.

Im not sure but for that price they wont it is a bargain i think. Yeah when you think about it its just a file on a CD for computer and some drawings
but for performance engine builders this would be cheap.

Well i have herd shocking things about Scat and wont go near there motors or engine parts. The only scat parts i would use is the parts like fan
shroud and tinware and all the bolt on stuff but not the insides of the motor. Maybe this will be a good quality if someone buys and starts
manufacturing them. From Dylan

This is modelled in Solid Works and being a user of this (and CATIA) it wouild take some time to complete this model unless it was done using a laser
scanner but still requires some clean up work.
Not much use unless your going to use it to make castings for cases, however it's greatest use is if you want to design manifolds, adaptor plates etc
for adding turbos, blowers or anything like that. You can design and fit before manufacturing.

I have been playing around with some CAD software lately and want to design some manifolds and adaptors so on but im not sure how you do it yet but i
will keep playing with it and see if i can make something.

is it just for cases?? there are many cases on the market already.... not trying to be negative, but why would you want to try and design a new one
yourself when there are already proven designs?

Agreed, big companies like Scat and Autocraft have all the design resources and factory gear and have been doing it for years. Their designs are
proven over years of competition and there's no way a local engine builder could even come close to replicating them from scratch. Why would you even
bother? I forgot to post the link for the Autocraft case, probably the ultimate for this sort of thing: ($2,195 US):

That one, and the similar Scat case, are for all-out racing (turbo drag, midget etc). Not for street cars. Autocraft also make complete engines -
their drag and oval track midget engines start at US $22,000...

What bad things have you heard about Scat engine parts?
I have run scat H beam rods, 1.4 rockers and one of their cranks for years, no complaints about those. I also ran an old cast volkstroker crank for a
while until the end broke off it doing a burnout, can't complain, it lasted a long time and copped a flogging.
Their tinware on the other hand is the same as the cheap crap that is around and still doesn't fit without lots of work.

You couldnt make it out of a solid block, if you could find one, because it would be too weak without the grain structure of a casting. To make a mold
of an intricate thing like a VW case you have to make 100 molds and throw away 100 prototypes until you got a casting that looks OK, even then you
wouldnt be too sure about its strength. Not many of us would have a big enough furnace in the shed to be able to pour that much metal.
Looking at the guys feedback he hasnt sold one yet.
The guy has a neutral feedback from another guy who says he accidentally hit buy it now. What a moron, he accidentally hit buy it now and confirmed?
