Whats the go with Quick Shift Kit?


Hey Guys,
Been looking around at replacement parts (as usual):lol: and came across a quick shift kit for your shifter.It looks like it replaces the adjustment plate under your shifter.How do these things work? where do they install and are they any good?

I've got a quick shift kit and it basically raise your pivot point (leverage thing) which comes with the same "raised" height spacer
I think i changed the bolts to the stainless one too
anyway it's about 1.5 in at the very top of shifter from 1 to N (this is very rough I remember cos i compared it with my mate's KE70)
it made mine feels tighter eventho it's a secondhand box that i don't know what inside looks like as long as it doesn't make a sound
and ocassionally I crunch the third gear. (could be the Q/S kit, could be the G/B or it could be me)
anyway it'd be lousy if your shifter coupling is loose
I would have replace them but i just squeeze the metal on the rubber coupling to make it tighter
{ now you'd probably get more reply due to my dodge 'E' ness }

woulda been easier to just say they cut the gearstick movement needed by 40% to give an allegedly sporty feeling shift :lol:

I just cut an inch off my gear stick and it feels intantly sprotier and was not expensive at all.

The quick shift kits are cheap anyways. They do the job, there's no doubt about it. Even if it extends the 'height' of teh shifter in general. For what they are worth, it saves the time angle grinding down the original whilst still maintaining the leverage of the original tall shifter.

Im Weighing up whether i should go with a new after market shifter like csi(i think) or just get a quick shift kit.?

if your getting a new shifter before you get it cut 30mm off your old one, go to supercheap and by a replacement gear knob and try it without the extra length.

then if you like it dont buy the new ones just keep the cut one.

The quick shift just changes the piviot point by 20mm or so

Just think of a see saw
you dont have to move the primary side as far to get the secondary side to move the same distance as before.
just more effort required

The knob is at the same place.

Yes cutting it is the same net effect i guess but the knob is now 30mm lower - not where it should be :crazy:
With the $$$ where it is now is a good time to buy one
I have the CSP and am very happy

I got one, and didn't feel that it realy made all that much difference, so after a few months I took it out. Felt like I was rowing a boat then - it seemed to be a mile between gears, so I put it back in as soon as I could. I am keeping it now.
