Not VW- Some cars still get serviced per the book...

I bought a year old Suzuki Swift last year, that had been serviced by the selling Suzuki dealer..

I did notice when polishing the car, that all the 5 door hinges had been oiled...
tyre treads depth measured along with thickness of the brake pads... etc..

I can't remember when I have seen door hinges etc being lubricated at a car service...
even though its usually on the list....

back to VWs..
I lubricate My beetle's hinges every few weeks
and wipe the excess oil off... before its blown all over the doors...

I believe if it moves, it needs lubrication....

carby linkages and pivots etc... makes a carby last much much longer...

Why do people think workshops no longer do this or that.... And, if you notice these things, maybe you should do it yourself - or do you just like paying $300 for a stamp??

So Lee how many places within 10kms of your house can you get a vehicle serviced?

Not sure what this question is about...??

three places from memory..

a general mechanic - who I have used... with a Magna

and actually built My VW engine in 1997..

Plus a Mazda/Honda dealership

Plus a Toyota/Suzuki/Mitsubishi workshop

Does that answer Your question???

I had two CE Lancers serviced for years at the Mitsubishi dealership in Muswellbrook.. [last one had free servicing]

I don't believe either one ever had a hinge oiled etc..
as I did them Myself... along with boot and bonnet locks etc

I believe a service there was change the oil and filter...!!
they never measured the tread depth or disc brake pad thickness... and never filled the windscreen washers..

and $300 for a stamp??? half the time they forgot to stamp the service manual... [same with Sydney mitsubishi dealer]

LEE

I do just about everything Myself now...
excepting Timing belts... lol
