Anyone any good at 3D/Cad modelling?

Hey all,
I'm designing a new conversion part for Subaru gearboxes into VW's and am not that great with the CAD/3D modelling software. It will take me quite a while to get up to speed.

Thought maybe there's someone on here that's good with this type of thing that might want to help a dubber out modelling one up and providing the outputs to print drawings and also CNC machine inputs.

I've got the design done and can provide drawings and dimensions in 2D that I've sketched up.

Anyone on here keen to donate a bit of time?

What part guys? I run a team of aeronauticle engineers designing comercial airplanes and tooling.
Pm me what your after 2d drawings dimensions and I'll draw it.
Are you after a reversed ring and pinion?
It's been done, look Item #Item number: 300392967773

i know about the reversed ring and pinion... i did it... he he he

Am putting together "Subaflanges' that are Subaru gearbox output flanges that allow any VW CV to bolt onto them.
From type 1 through 4 to Porsche 930 in size. This way anyone that fits a Subaru 5 speed can just bolt on whatever VW inner/outer cv's anddrive shafts they want.

Thanks for the offer of help, Joshua on here replied earlier and is going to try and knock them up tomorrow. Let's see how we progress.

That reminds me can some of you VW historians confirm these dimensions for me please :

Type 1,3 CV 94mm outside size. 6 x 8mm bolts. 86mm bolt circle or 80 mm bolt circle?
Type 2,4 CV 100mm outisde size, 6 x 8mm bolts. 86mm bolt circle.
930 CV 108mm outside size, 6 x 10mm bolts. 94mm bolt circle.

Thanks heaps dubbers.

i love it how i can design it on the computer and take it to the machine shop and get it made up. The Tutorials seem a bit hard but i hope to find some good ones and get some things acctually made into real metal. = ) From Dylan

Well guys how good is the VW community. Jonathan has mad skillz in cad drawing and 3d modelling. He donated some of his spare time and we now have the Subaflange! This flange allows all types of VW//Porsche CV's to bolt onto the reversed Subie gearbox. Thanks heaps Jonathan, check it out y'all.

Good on you Jonathan, you deserve a pat on the back for helping others. I think it's great to see people willing to help others and giving their time. And to such a worthy adventure. A big :tu: to you both.

Late to the thread but I only check once a week at best.

For quick tutorials on CAD, D/L Google SketchUp and run through the tutorials. You will have the hang of CAD in no time at all, and can make professional pics like Todds flange in about 10 minutes. The Push/Pull tool in SketchUp is one of the best CAD tools I have ever come across, and only in SU. As a bonus for doing things quick, almost every tool in SU has a one-key keyboard shortcut. Can't praise it enough, and it's free, as in beer.

Hey thanks Dbryar, I will check out Google sketchup. Would be good skillz to have. I managed to teach myself photoshop & after effects, so why not Autocad.

Just to show you what we ended up with (after a few design changes) here's the cad drawing and 3d model of the Subaflange. Am now going to get the first prototype made and fitted up to make sure everything works and clears as it should.

Awesome work Jonathan, you da man.

Guys the spline drive will need to be broached. Lovett engineering in vic can do this.

Don't worry, I made sure of it before posting.
Ronson gears in Vic are doing the prototyping, once we suss out the splines.
