Shock absorbers, front Type 3 - Bilstein BE3-63218
I found what appears like the correct part number for type 3 front shock absorbers in the Bilstein online cattle dog....

Trouble is no-one seems to stock them. Bilstein in Germany tell me to speak to the Sydney importer, but no luck there. I also tried CSP in Germany who
also don't have them.
Where to try next?

You can.... If you want..... go to fulcrum suspention and give them the size's (Compressed and extended) and they can find you a sport shock that
size. I did it for my lowered 67 fasty.
Got to be way cheaper than 130 euro's

Thanks Tazz, but most manufacturers just specify the rears off a swing-axle beetle for a type 3 front. The length and mounting eye at each end is no
problem. The correct valve sizing is. Most shocks are just too hard.

I have a few aftermarket shocks that are nothing like stock ones.
I have not looked hard to find a decent set though.

I just put brand new correct oil shocks on my 73 Square as I was told repeatedly that gas would be too hard. After driving on them for a month now I
would have to say that given the choice again I would have gone to gas. Just my two cents worth.

I have been using Bilstiens for 23 years on my 64 notch, #B46-0040-HI which are rear T1 shocks and they are still very firm.
Cheap from $70us each at eshocks.com

Well i'm running coilovers on the rear and oils on the front of my lowered 62 square.... not the best setup but it works for what i want... low and
slow...
Rancho and other brands have adjustable damper shocks aswell... but hey... depends on your budget.

just run the empi beetle k&l lowered shock , run them on my split and nice n soft. I paid 85-90 for the last pair, will find the part #
