Westy did a Subi sump for me

Hi

Brad (Westy) at Westside modified my Subi sump for me.

I bought a bugs at 5 speed alloy sump and I was aware it wouldn't clear the stock Subaru engine mounts, I was prepared to work around this issue but when I tried to fit the bugs at 5 speed sump it interfered with my chassis forks as I've moved my motor and trans 100 mm forward.

So I shelved the alloy sump for another car.

I sort of got Brad to copy Jaks design, excellent craftsmanship as usual from Brad.

Steve

That looks hot steve!!! I guess it would be slightly rude to ask how much this costs, but did you go for it only due to the mount issue, or were other items on the market, just not there in quality???

What does the bug@5 sump look like???

Good to see the project coming together!!!

Steve, have u filled it up yet to see how many litres it takes? mine takes 6 litres.

The bug@5 sump is only good for a paperweight. At best.

Yes the bug@5speed sump was never designed to be used with the Subaru engine mounts, but you can get them to work if you want.

Hi

I don't want quote any costs, the pricing is up to Brad, but for quality of the work I'm very happy with what I paid.

I was prepared to use the bugs at 5 speed sump as I have an Accusump to fit as well to handle any oil surge issues.

JVL, its almost ready for paint but I have a wife who is on the warpath about an unfinished backyard, so I Im doing a bit of both at the moment, car & yard.

Jak, I haven't filled it yet, but I'm sure I've picked up a litre or two.

Matt I was able move it forward by using 40 hp length torsion bars.

Hi

I did the "Jak fill test with water", it took 5 litres and it was still about 15mm from the top of the rim, I was in a hurry to get it back on the car before I started work, so I didn't have time for another fill.

So I reckon about 5.5 litres easy.

Hi

When Brad did the sump, he 1st cut the bottom off to the correct level, then I remounted it to workout how far the winglets could move without interfering with anything.

Hi Dino

The beauty of shiftwork is that I can often get under the car do things while she is at work, I set myself a goal that day to get the sump back on.

Just waiting for my axles to turn up from the US so that can see if they are going to clear my shocks, if not I'm going to lay the shocks forward with new top mountings, the shock to axle clearance is something that gets tight with the motor moved 100 mm forward.
