36hp challenge

Just guaging a bit of feed back to determine whether a 36hp challenge/cup will work in Australia. The concept will be based on US classes and be a ciber type record which will require the SPIRIT of competition. This allows anyone anywhere in Australia to compete in a sactioned drag race event with the only requirement being your timing slip as proof. Am happy to get this off the ground as I think its a brillant challenge which wont rely on BIG pockets .....more old school knowledge...........After competing at speedweek on the salt the land speed title will be internationally reconized..stands at 73.4mph.A quick run down on classes include a stone stock 36er....{SS] dual card open [DSS] period super charger etc and new age turbo 36ers.......hope a few of you guys see the fun and potential in having a bit of safe fun cheers steve

The drag-strip idea is good, it would reduce the need to travel hundreds of kms - over some crap roads - to compete on a rather doubtful surface. Timing would probably be much more reliable, also, not to mention the huge saving in water (mega-litres required for cleaning salt, mud etc. from cars, tow vehicles, trailers etc.)

Keen to hear more.

Cheers, Greg

36 hp challenge

Stay tuned for the next phase of a national 36hp Challenge. Powers to be are currently developing some thoughts and options to grow this activity.
Outcomes will need to facilitate increased enthusiast involvement in the sport that must to driven by low cost outlay but result in high recognition.

If there is a chance of a larger seat to park the arse and the ability to get another 8 or 9 hp from the motor to offset the distinct weight disadvantage that I come with maybe I could sneak into a seat. It could be the 44 hp or 45 hp challenge or just a challenge to get my arse into the drivers seat.

Just dont ask me to fit into the Ghia

The official 36hp World Record is 73.496 mph held at the Bonneville Salt on the 2 mile timed track.
There were three ( I think) challengers to the world record only last week at the World of Speed but the time was not beaten.
The Ratmuller Racing team achieved 75.01mph last March using GPS timing equipment over the short track and are preparing for another assault next March. Watch the record tumble.
There is also some interest being generated in Melbourne by a couple of fellow enthusiasts who have indicated they will be running vehicle next March as well.

I'm possibly in. Great idea.

Craig could have his own class based on personality-type; then it wouldn't matter what car he drives.

Hehehe..........good to see the lover boys are in fine form today. ;)

I'm amazed it took so long between posts......I can just see it now, Christian on the phone to Jak with the conversation going like this......

Christian: "you write it"
Jak: "No you write it"
Christian:"I'm scared, you write it"
Jak: "I will back you up, remember we are friends forever"
Christian: "Oh Jak ,youre the best"
Jak: "No you're the best"
Christian: "NO YOU'RE THE BEST"
Jak: "Oh lets just eat Pastizzi, and talk about our love for each other"............

:lol::lol::lol::smilegrin:;)
