On ACA - Big Fines for BEEPing Your Horn in NSW
[size=4]
On ACA last night - BIG FINES in NSW for BEEPing Your horn unless its an emergency...
Fellow beeped to let a pedestrian go across the road....
and ended up with a HUGE fine....
He's taking it to court...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OK...
If You live in NSW and Your VW horn goes off by itself....
which can and does happen....
You can be fined unless You are about to run over somebody etc..
Waving is still legal as far as I know...
but NOT out the window....

I saw this story, pathetic is all I can say.
Also, by the same token, if you are behind a car at the lights and the driver is napping and you beep him/her to give them a little hurry on, and I
mean a friendly beep, I would imagine that would be a fine-able offence as well, as its not "an emergency".
So where do we stand at "speaking out the window at a volume loud enough so other drivers can hear" if we can't use the horn except in emergencies,
given most cars these days have air con and people drive witht he windows up?
Cops on a power trip I guess.

YES,
the beeping at lights is common...
I've been at both ends,... lol
In past years air horns were supposedly illegal...
but I always had them... lol
but I didn't go around honking though...
and I do BEEP with MY beetle horn at school kids.. lol
I wonder if the Wiggles will still be allowed to BEEP BEEP
in their RED car...

Hi
I think in this case the cop was over zealous. I heard the guy who was booked on a talkback radio station talking about this.
Good luck taking it to court.
But I grew up across the road from a family of seven who gave a friendly toot when they left the house or arrived home, it became very tiresome, they
stopped after I started doing it with really loud twin Bosch horns on my bug.

Hi
I heard of a lady who was sitting in traffic and was booked for putting her hand out the window to see if it was really rain on her windscreen.
