VW Class thoughts....
Everyone always seems to get their knickers in a knot regarding classes to run their VW's in. Personally I dont think we have the numbers to run
"classes" and it should be all in bracket racing, divided into quick and slow for safety reasons.
But......based on watching some of the US "street" and limited tyre classes for the V8's heres some thoughts for an entry level class....
VW Real "street"- Must use a conventional street tyre, no DOT type slicks or tyres produced for racing. Limited to 205 max width. If you wouldnt run
it on your mums old falcodore you wont run it here!!!
-Engine must retain belt driven cooling system and working charging system, belt must be fitted and operating at staging.
-Exhaust must be muffled and protude no further than x(?) inches from the rear of the car or rear bumper. no "stinger" style exhausts.
-Vehicle must retain working lights, indicators and a Streetable appearance etc.
-Chassis modifications are limited to replaceable components, ie beams, torsion bars, spring plates, shocks. NO RAISED TORSION HOUSINGS ETC, NO WHEEL
TUBS, No wheelie bars.
-No exotic fuels allowed (race blends, methanol etc.)
-No tow cars (at track, you can trailer it obviously)
-Vehicle DOES NOT need to be legally street registered (or even registered at all!!)
-Minimum weight N/A 1750 lbs with driver, Turbo Nitrous etc 1900lbs with driver(just a starting point off the top of my head)
Thats a real rough set of ideas for a class, I was going to write up another class for the faster more heavily modified cars but that was enough brain
work for now!!
Basically the general idea is a class thats easy to fit existing cars into and cheap to get started racing in. Normal street tyres keep the
transmissions alive and not actually having to have the car street registered takes away all the BS associated with the old GB class. Its for street
looking cars, not street legal cars!!
Basically the main points are limited tyre and minimum weight and chassis mods. Trying to keep the rules to a minimum to allow more entries and keep
the cost down.
Thoughts?

no offense, but until we really get the numbers out there for these drag event's ,there is no real issues about to light, not the right tyres.yada
yada.
there are way to many can's of worms to be opened up for each of your sugestions.
street tyre for joe blog's might be a 50 buck nagkang, your tyre might be 1000 dollar michilene man,not fare.it would need to be one make, one
size.that simple.
exhaust would have to be open or db tested that simple, problem is with db testing people will be getting sent home with the shit's and never coming
back due to the fact that were they had there's tested it was under the limit and now it's not.that's why exhaust would have to be open.
light's must work and look streetable,at this point i was thinking of giving up.do you want a street class or do you want it to look like a street
class.
come on dude, street means all steel everyone already know this.
down sharon.

allright why don't you put it this way.
and this is if we had enough people actually turn yeh.
street class.1
1600 and under
who cares what tyre or exhaust.but must be all steel and full trim.
street class .2
2000 and under ,exhaust open.tyre must be a(blah blah) fixed size and manifacture, all steel and trim.
street class 3
2000 and up,same shit as the class 2maybe a larger trye.
see the problem is now people will remove the steel from behind the door trims and rusty panels with gaping big holes .you can't win, then you have
the hole early model v's late thing with there own little weight thing going on.
where will the madness stop.
for a street class the only rules you can realy have are rego, open exhaust, one make and size tyre.
where's that picture of the can of worm's dangerous.
down sharon.

I'm not disagreeing with you on any of those points, but the point is to make the rules a bit more flexible to give people an easy class to get on
track and have other similar cars to compete against, It can still be bracket racing.
A good example is supercharged outlaws, bracket racing with a loose set of rules for a particular style of car. Seems to work reasonably well?
Anyway looks like I've been shut down so end of topic!!!
Ps street cars all steel? what about all the bugs with torana tail lights and whale tails? maybe they need a class too......

If its bracket racing why does it matter? Though it may piss off the diver that runs a 12 sec pass up against a 20 sec stocker, but i guess that makes
it challenging.
