2km out of town or 100kms out of town if you can get internet with telstra you can get internet with internode or adam or any other provider. They all use the same infrastructure (excluding adsl2 which uses the telstra cables but they have their own dslams in the exchange.)

nope, nope and nope. The current internet i am on,relies on wireless.(pretty much mobile phone signals(3g) ) and cable style broadband we can not get.Our exchange has them, our town isnt that low.lol but the cables running to my house are all old style lines. They havnt been changed to new lines which are capable of holding broadband.Trust me,i went through all that.:) it took me a while to finally settle and give in to Wireless. But its not bad at all.

Ahh 3G well does three have coverage in that area? but yeah wireless is a bit of a sucky area.

There is no such thing as old and new lines ;) did they say the ill fated word "Pair gain" ? If the exchange is enabled and your on that exchange no matter the age of the cables as long as you have a piece of copper coming into your house you can get it (unless the exchange is full as well).

It may be worth just calling internode to see if they can connect you as they will often connect people of greater distance.

Yep, with Internode too. Good to support (and get support from) an Adelaide company. I think they were voted ISP of the year. My work colleague's fiance works for them and apparently the boss puts on one hell of a Christmas bash, all at his own expense. Really looks after his employees and it shows in the service they give.

Telstra keep wanting me to change to Bigpond (my phones are with them), but no way.

yeah they did say that pair gain shit.i was gonna say that but thought it might be wrong. As soon as telstra saw that they just went straight to wireless.I tried westnet as well and they said the same thing. My neighbor went to satelite, just to get good download and cheap.and get away from telstra lol.

Yep...we've been with Internode since arriving in Aus, and very happy.
Not sure if it's changed now, but at the time they were the only provider i could find where 25gb of downloads meant 25GB OF DOWNLOADS!!! All of the rest classed anything i uploaded into my download limit. Wasn't having any of that thanks very much!

i hate iinet. They charged me for early termination. They told me it would take up to 6 weeks before I could be connected. It took them 6 months. When I moved it was 16 months after I asked them to connect, but less than 12 months since they connected. So they hit me up for $90. It is in the contract that the 12 months is from date of connection, but its on about page 80 of 90. If I knew it was going to be 6 months before connection I wouldnt have signed. They tried to charge me the ADSL rate from day 1 as well, even though I only had access to dial up.

I'm with TPG now. havent had problem

and having to deal with dial-up speed

That is clever advertising,we recently swapped to internode from another supplier who screwed us over very badly and we are very happy with the speed (in relation to previous speed),download capacity and service.

Good ads. Obviously working as it's sparked a good debate on here.

Any ideas who owns the busses in the ad's... especially the one that obviously needs some TLC... that would be a nice field find.

ha, was with iinet for YEARS, no acknowledgement for long term customer etc, moved to TPG a year or so ago, ADSL2+... still us aussies are way behind.. and lets hope Conroy does not get his way, then we will all sit behind a good old slow big wall of censorship...........
