Club VW supersprint 2010 : Now Open

Being April 1st, entries are now officially open. I'd love them to start flooding in. Its easier to organise if you know numbers early. Last year I was doing the running order at midnight friday. Wasnt fun.

Couple of points...
When I created the entry form I didnt put in a space for you to nominate which speed group you should go in. If you could write that on the bottom of your entry form.

If you havent ran your car on a track before could you give a brief description of how warm your engine is. From this I'll hopefully be able to make a half decent guess. It can be a bit deceptive just going by engine size. Any help at all is appreciated.

There will be no entries on the day this year. If its not in the mailbox by the wednesday you might miss out. Its in your own best interest to get it in before the 16th May. Save yourself $30. If you're holding out because finishing the car on time is going to be tight, you can still put an entry in and get a refund later if you dont make it. So long as you ring me on the friday night to say you are pulling out.

Any questions, ask away.

Hi Chris, I basically repeated what you said (top post above) about 'no entries on the day' in the recent club magazine. Poor Herb was most upset and said he didn't know about that. Are you going to change that, closer to the day if numbers are down? He thinks you'll get dozens just turning up on the day.

How many of the entrants are young blokes from the vwwatercooled forum with hot doof doof Golfs?

Hi

I'm sending David's off soon, I just saw my friend with the gold V8 BMW who ran last year, he just posted his entry off today.

Like chris has said you can enter and get refunded if something goes wrong, which should negate the need for on the day entries....

Testing notch this week, so will soon know if our 2 entries can be sent

nup. had the same rule last year and was lenient. Last year was different as paperwork was late getting out. This year there's no excuse, it has been available since mid feb. The late entry fee will be adhered to in every case after 16th as well. I turn 40 this year, have every right to be an old cranky so n so.

Sorting the running order isnt as simple as sticking cars in a line from fastest to slowest. You've got vees and buggies that cant run with sedans, cars double entered so they have to be placed in 2 separate groups with a few groups in between so that they can change over, they are rarely the same speed with both drivers, and then you have to group them so that there is minimal overtaking. Its almost impossible to rejig the running order on the day without shutting down for 1/2 an hour like we did last year. Thats not fair on the others who do the right thing and want to fit more runs in. Last year I had entries in the mail on friday afternoon, drive to Goulburn and finished about midnight, and then had entries on the day which stuffed it up.

Its also a lot more hassle to do paperwork on the day. If all people have to do in the morning is tick a licence number off, it gets done a lot quicker and takes the pressure off in terms of getting started on time.

easier for me, fairer on others, cheaper on yourself to get in before 16th May.
