AUSSIE N/A TEN SECOND VOLKSIES
This one as the first:

Ross can confirm the details,
but from memory it went 10s around June 1990,
and eventually ran a best of 10.71@124.22mph.
It weighed about 1400lbs(636kg) with out Ross aboard.
Engine was 2574cc with 88 stroke and 96.5 bores.

NOT AUSSIE but IN Australia
Of worthy mention was Gary Bergs Black '67.

It currently holds the ANDRA SUPER SEDAN record,at 10.38 and 128,98mph were its best times.
The record was set in June 1995...nearly 15 years ago.
Car weighed 1680lbs,(764kg) and engine was 95 bore with 94 stroke. That is 2665cc.
Gary told me he was using a 1.17 fourth gear and 4.57 diff ratio.
That equates to 8900 rpm at the best speed.

Rodney Penrose : 10.67@118mph
The next car to run into the tens on 22nd July 2007, was Rodneys tube chassis car.
Engine was 2789cc Autocraft with Berg 58 carbs, and car weighed 1560? lbs(710kg) with Rodney on board.
It has run as quick as 10.67, but only 118mph with the rev limiter set low.

Dave Butler : 10.931@122.31
My car was next to run a Normally Aspirated ten on the 17th March 2010.
10.931@122.31MPH.
It weighs between 1775 and 1785lbs(807 to 811kg).
Engine is 2699cc with 82 stroke and 102.36 bore.
It uses the Pauter Brand Case and heads.
It is the current ANDRA ALL MOTOR record holder at 11.43 and 114.93mph at legal weight,(min 1750lbs).
(SCG record is held by a Rotary Mazda)
It was the first time an Aussie Volksy ran an N/A-TEN without resorting to a chopped roof.

Peter Page/Rod Richardson 10.937@120.62
Peter Page was the very next car to run in the Tens.
It was the 31st March 2010(less than two weeks after mine!!).
10.937@120.62.
It ran this time using Rod Richardson's 2387cc engine,
that uses a VW magnesium case and Competition Eliminator heads and 51.5 Weber Carbs.
Pete's car weighed about 1445lbs,(657kg) with him aboard, and with his heavy Scat cased-dry sumped 2332.
So it may be a little bit lighter now.

Future candidates for more normally aspirated Tens are:
Michael Nash and his tube framed '54,(2702cc Autocraft).
http://forums.aussieveedubbers.com/viewtopic.php?tid=82967
Westi,(Brad) with his 2387cc pan car
that has come in nice and light,(under 1500lbs)
and has a very impressive dyno sheet.
http://forums.aussieveedubbers.com/viewtopic.php?tid=60666
Ross freestone's Houndog has a new 2897cc engine
that has already shown at least 50hp more than it did back in the 90's.

Dear Dave..your figures are right @ 124.22 mph @ 10.71.Car was 636 Kgs free standing back then (1400lbs)
New engine is not far off 100hp more (not your lousy quote of 50..you tightarse) & has 57 more ft lbs of twist.
Although it has been producing mild times with this extra mumbo we have since found that the rev limiter has been over protective by 500 revs with
this new combo causing it not to buzz.I felt it was down overall with its 60 footers only 1.48 & 6.9@104mph over the 1/8. At least Warwick &
Portland has provided familiarisation time & a level of confidence in its behaviour. When I run it over the 1/4 the last half is where this engine
should really show its strength.
ps Just imagine what Rocket Rod's N/A time would have been with someone good looking & slim in it !!!
Regards..Ross.

He has this crusty old, yellowing note pad from god knows how many years ago that is full of his times and probably contains everyone elses info too.
Tried to get him to put it on excel spreadsheet ages ago, but until someone shows him that computers aren't just for looking up volksy stuff and
porn....the note pad stays...
not to mention he has a memory for facts and figures that is hard to beat

Not to mention Dangerous' book of engine details of every engine he has put together since the dawn of time so to speak. I was looking for some info
on Troy's engine from the first time it was built and Troy couldn't remember so we contacted Dave and he had the info in the book of knowledge!!

Dave, you need to start writing a column for the VW mag.
Make it like Coburn writing for Wheels (I think that was his name) ... the technical understanding along with the wit
