accellerator pedal not working -

have just repaired all the damage from an engine fire i had in february. replaced carby etc. now when i put the accelerator pedal down nothing happens.
the cable is free and moving, the carby is new and lets the motor rev when operated manually, took the cover off the side of the trans tunnel, that lever is moving freely as is the cable, so to my power of ellimination means the pedal assembly is playing up. any other opinions????

if the arm on the passenger side of the tunnel is moving when u press the pedal theres nothing wrong with the pedals
just means you have too much slack in the cable

loosen the barrel clamp on the carb and pull more cable through

Hi
Your pedal may have moved.... very common... at the hinge..
which makes the rear of the pedal not touch the roller on the throttle lever... at the rear of the pedal...

the hinge on the pedal is the problem usually..
try to move it so the back of the pedal pushes the roller ...

What was the cause of the engine fire?

the fire was caused by the brass tube that is pressed into the carby, that the fuel line clamps onto, coming out!!!! the pedal has a linkage to the arm that the roller is ment to be, it seem the rod that goes through the trans tunnel isnt turning the arm that the cable is attached to enough. hope that makes sense

ah i get ya now
if the pedal is pushing down on the roller part but the arms not turning it'll be one of 2 things
the accelarator rod running through the pedal assembly and out the other has snapped inside (highly unlikely) or the sqaure drive on the end that meshed with the lever is messed up somehow

best bet would be take off the little circlip and pull off the lever, have a looksee if the pedal turns the rod

problem found, the rod that goes from the pedal to the cable arm is serverely bent, so on the lookout for that rod or a complete pedal assembly, plz pm me if you have 1 for a 1960 bug!!!!

cheers
matt
